Overview: Selections for this exhibition came from the gift of 63 American portraits acquired by Andrew Mellon in January 1936 (including the Thomas B. Clarke collection) from the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust. Also included were 8 paintings from Chester Dale and 2 portraits from Clarence van Dyke Tiers.
