Overview: 49 American impressionist and realist paintings and works on paper from the Margaret and Raymond Horowitz collection were presented, including works by William Merritt Chase, Childe Hassam, George Bellows, Maurice Prendergast, William Glackens, and Theodore Robinson. This was the first time the collection had been on exhibition since it was shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1973.

Organization: The National Gallery of Art organized the exhibition. Nicolai Cikovsky Jr., senior curator of American and British paintings at the National Gallery of Art, was the curator.
