Overview: 59 sculptures, medals, and decorative arts objects in a range of media, including bronze, silver, terracotta, and plaster, were on view in this exhibition, which celebrated the 150th anniversary of Charpentier's birth. The presentation was the first exhibition dedicated to Charpentier's work since the artist's death. The objects, from the collection of the National Gallery of Art and a private collection, were arranged in 4 principal themes: maternity and children, labor, portraiture, and decorative arts.

Soprano Alessandra Marc presented a concert of 19th-century French music in honor of the exhibition on October 15.

Organization: The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Karen Lemmey, Andrew W. Mellon curatorial fellow in the department of sculpture and decorative arts, National Gallery of Art, was the curator.
