Overview: This exhibition commemorates the publication of Italian Paintings of the Fifteenth Century by David Alan Brown and Miklós Boskovits et al., the most recent addition to the Gallery’s Systematic Catalogue series.

Photographic collections, such as the Gallery’s Photographic Archives, were instrumental in the research for this book. The images presented in Revelations from Reproductions charted the histories of a selection of the Gallery’s Italian Renaissance paintings through their restorations and reattributions. The accompanying remarks have been paraphrased from the catalog.

Organization: The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery of Art. Missy Lemke, image specialist for Italian art, was curator.
