Macdonough, Augustus Rodney

American, 1820 - 1907

Biography

Son of US naval hero Thomas MacdDonough (1783-1825), best known as the commander of the victorious American naval forces at the battle of Lake Champlain during the War of 1812. He had two brothers, James Edward Fisher (1825-1849) and Charles Shaler (1818-1871). Augustus was a member of the Century Club, and for a time served as its secretary.[Compiled from sources and references recorded on CMS]
