Enthoven, John James

Biography

John James Enthoven was the only son of Voorburg industrialist Lodewijk Cornelis Enthoven (1854-1920) and his wife Cornelia Johanna Smit (d. 1900). Enthoven had two sisters, Fanny and Jeannette. The elder Enthoven was a supporter and patron of van Gogh during his years in The Hague; at his death in 1920 his art collection, including 48 van Gogh paintings, were sold at auction. John James Enthoven was married between 1919-1924 to Janneke Johanna van Nijmegen Schonegal-Rutgers.
