Biography

Important 19th century collector, Paul was the son of Gustave Gallimard, who had begun collecting Barbizon paintings in the 1960s. Paul was a friend of Edmond de Goncourt and collector of Monet, Manet, Renoir and other contemporary painters with whom he became acquainted. His son Gaston ]b. 1881] established the French publishing house of Gallimard.
