Galerie established in Cologne in 1920 by brothers Karl Nierendorf [1889-1947].and Josef Nierendorf [1898-1949]. In 1923, Karl took over the Graphische Kabinett J.B. Neumann in Berlin, when Neumann came to the United States. In 1936, Karl himself came to the US in 1936 and his brother managed the Berlin firm until it closed in 1939. When Karl Nierendorf died in the United States in 1947, his property was vested and sold by the US Government as part of the Office of Alien Property Custodian.
