Biography

The eldest son of Thomas Grosvenor (who changed his name by Sign-Manual in 1821 to his mother's family name, Egerton), 2nd Earl of Wilton and Viscount Grey de Wilton, Arthur Grey Egerton succeeded his father as 3rd Earl of Wilton and Viscount Grey de Wilton in 1882. He served as a Lieutenant in the 1st Life Guards from 1854-59, and was a member of Parliament for Weymouth and later for Bath. In 1858, he married Lady Elizabeth Charlotte Louisa Craven [d. 1919], eldest daughter of the 2nd Earl of Craven. Egerton was created Baron Grey de Radcliffe, in the county palatine of Lancaster, on 14 June 1875. Having no children, the Earldom and Viscounty passed to his brother, Seymour John Grey Egerton [1839-1898], and the Barony of Grey de Radcliffe became extinct.
