The second son of John and Mary Lang Park, James Park was the fifth of their nine children. He married Susanna Early and they had four sons--Elijah Heath (d. in Civil War), Robert A. (m. Eva Thomas), John L. (d. in childhood), and Leon Norman (m. Martha A. Thompson). Presumably widowed, Park married Anna Loughry on 22 August 1854. With her he had five more children: James L. (m. Jessie Work), Jennie E., John, Mary (d. in childhood), and Annie Bell (m. George Fuller). James Park's youngest brother, Linton [1826-1906], is known today as an "American naive" painter. James owned some of his brother's pictures, which were passed down through the Park family.
