The image displays a still life composition featuring a sculpted bust on a pedestal as the central figure, an artist's easel with a sketch, and various artistic and scientific instruments like a telescope and a geometry set. The color palette consists mainly of sepia tones with shades of gray and brown. The objects are arranged in the center: the bust is at the center, the easel slightly to the right, the telescope beside it, and scattered items like a compass and triangle on the lower right. A banner with the title "Sketch Book of J.E. Shadek, Co. A 8th C V" arches across the scene.
