The artwork depicts a rustic scene with a slightly elevated point of view. Prominent trees stand tall in the center of the composition, their sparse branches extending upward, framing a few scattered clouds against the sky. A winding dirt path curves gently towards a series of buildings. These structures feature striped and checkered patterns on the roofs. Bushes and foliage grow densely close by, with a birdhouse perched atop a tall post on the left. The horizon is subtly implied by the meeting of trees and sky. The etching style of the piece is evident in the intricate lines and crosshatching that create texture and shading. The color palette is primarily sepia tones.

Gustaf Oscar Dalstrom · 1934 · etching ·  Accession ID  2008.115.1372

The image shows a rural scene with animals grazing. A tree with intricate branches and leaves is centrally located against the sky. The horizon is low in the picture, showcasing fields stretching into the distance and trees in the background. Fine, detailed lines are used for the branches and leaves. The etching lines create texture with cross-hatching for shadows and depth. The color palette consists of brown tones, creating an earthy, muted feeling. Two cows are grazing near a wooden fence close to a path leading to barns.
