The image shows blue rectangular blocks arranged in a grid pattern with irregular cuts and shapes on the inside. The blocks create lines and angles that intersect in various directions, resembling letters or mechanical parts. Each block has a unique configuration, resembling a puzzle or fragmented typewriter font spread out across the canvas.

Homage to Nevelson II

Jules Engel, Tamarind Institute · 1968 · lithograph (stone) in blue on J. Green paper ·  Accession ID  1983.18.472

Untitled

Jules Engel, Tamarind Institute · 1968 · lithograph (aluminum and stone) in red-orange, green and black on Copperplate Deluxe paper ·  Accession ID  1983.18.475

The image features an arrangement of geometric shapes with a strong emphasis on symmetry and bold lines. At the center are two purple and two red squares arranged to form a larger, central cross. Surrounding this formation are four three-dimensional shapes resembling open boxes or diamond-like structures, each extending from the sides of the squares, oriented diagonally. These outer shapes have black outlines and are arranged in a pinwheel or flower-like pattern. The overall design combines simple geometric forms into a pattern.
