This print depicts a group of people and creatures in a scene together. In the center, a nude woman sits on the ground, one elbow resting on a low bench or surface behind her. On the left, a human-like creature with long horns and pointed ears is pressed close against her, one hand on her chin and one curved around her body to grab her breast. The woman looks to the right, away from the creature, a neutral expression on her face. One of her hands reaches up to touch the chest of another horned creature on the left. This creature is standing, revealing goat-like legs. One of its hands covers its face, while the other holds a plate or dish upwards. A cloth seems to drift upward from its shoulders. On the far left, another creature is seated or reclining, looking towards the center. This creature has shorter horns. On the right, behind the woman, is a small cherub-like creature with a bird perched on its hand. There is a vase near the bottom right corner and a tall tree with twisting vines and bunches of fruit behind the central couple. The background is made of thin diagonal lines stretching from the top left corner to the bottom right. A small stream of water appears to flow across the ground.

Hercules and Cacus

Master of 1515 · c. 1515/1520 · engraving ·  Accession ID  1943.3.5833

The image features a mix of shapes and lines, such as vertical columns, circular domes, and detailed figures. The composition includes statuesque figures and architectural elements resembling a classical cityscape. There is a central spiraled column and a dome structure similar to ancient Roman architecture. A figure on horseback is in front, while a reclining figure beside a lion-like creature is present. There are towering columns and elaborate facades reminiscent of ancient temples or monuments. The overall composition blends the structural and symbolic elements, creating an abstract interpretation of a mythological or historical scene.

Allegory of Fortitude (?)

Master of 1515 · c. 1515/1520 · engraving ·  Accession ID  1943.3.9093

This image shows mythological figures in a natural setting. There is a satyr beside a female figure, possibly a nymph, who is holding a child with goat-like legs. The satyr is playing a pan flute. They are seated against a tree surrounded by tall grasses and cattails, suggesting a marshy or riverbank location. At the bottom, another childlike figure resembling a faun is leaning over a basin or bowl, possibly interacting with the water. The intricate use of line work with detailed cross-hatching defines the figures and the natural background. The drawing portrays a peaceful, pastoral scene typical of mythological depictions from the Renaissance period.
