The image shows a young boy seated on a carved wooden chair with ornate upholstery. He is captured in a full-body view, slightly angled as he sits with one leg crossed over the other. His facial expression is neutral, with wide eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. His hair is short, combed neatly, and brown in color. He is dressed in a formal outfit that includes a black jacket over a pinstriped vest, a white collared shirt, and gray trousers, with shiny black shoes on his feet. The boy holds a straw hat with a black ribbon in his right hand, resting on his lap. The background is a simple, muted beige wall with a blue carpet or rug under the chair and small footstool. The year "1856" is written on the right side of the image.
