Jack a Moon

Anthony Stoeveken, Tamarind Institute · 1968 · lithograph (aluminum and stone) in yellow, blue, violet and black on Copperplate Deluxe paper ·  Accession ID  1984.34.877

This is a drawing of two abstract human-like figures outlined in black. The image shows two abstract human-like forms depicted side by side. Each figure emerges from a rounded arch form, with the torso and head being more detailed while the limbs are abstract and elongated. The left figure has a stretched horizontal line extending from the shoulders, and the right figure appears to have a more upright stance. The artist uses stark contrast with black and white to emphasize the figures' features and outline, creating a ghostly effect. The line work is bold yet fluid, lending the figures a surreal quality. The piece encourages viewers to ponder the figures' essence.
