The image shows a stylized portrait of a person with only the head and shoulders visible. The person is facing forward, gazing slightly to the side. Their face has bold features, including a pronounced nose and full lips, with a serene or neutral expression. The hair is long and straight, falling to the shoulders. They are wearing an elaborate headpiece, reminiscent of a helmet or ornate cap, with intricate designs and feather-like textures. The background is plain. The text above reads "DE HOOGHE'S SIBYL" in small letters, and there are signatures and numbering beneath the image on the lower margins of the paper. The paper's border is wide, framing the portrait centrally.

de Hooghe's Sibyl

Leonard Baskin, Kennedy Galleries · 1978 · etching in black and red on Velin d'Arches wove paper ·  Accession ID  2013.121.129

The image shows a composition with a bold green shape resembling a bird overlapping the outline of a human profile drawn with fine lines and stippling. The bird figure aligns with the human silhouette, creating a blend of nature and humanity. The bird's legs are positioned above the head's outline, and its beak emerges from the nose of the human figure. The green area has a textured appearance resembling skin or feathers, enhancing the abstract fusion of forms.
