Niagara on the Potomac

Sam Gilliam, Lou Stovall, Corcoran Gallery of Art · 1995 · color screenprint on Rising wove paper ·  Accession ID  2015.19.3017

The image shows a large rectangle divided into four equal squares by both a vertical and a horizontal line, creating an abstract grid pattern. The squares are filled with a dense network of crisscrossing lines that suggest a textured surface. The intersecting lines create a structured grid that may evoke associations with familiar objects like windows or tiles.
