Artist, Dutch, 1606 - 1669

The image shows a man seated inside a room. He is reclining against a table with his legs stretched out in front of him. His facial features are obscured by shadows, as his head is turned slightly downwards. He is wearing a wide-brimmed hat that casts further shadow and his hair is slightly wavy, touching his shoulders. The man is dressed in a buttoned shirt with a collar and pants that expose his lower legs. There is another figure to the left of the image, seemingly a man in motion with a stick, wearing similar attire including a hat. In the background, there are sketches of two more figures drawn with minimal details. The scene appears to be indoors, characterized by cross-hatched shading suggesting walls and a window frame. A small cup or object is on the table near the seated man.
