The image shows four figures, with two women and two children forming the central focus. The bodies of the women are shown almost in full, sitting on the ground amidst tree trunks and a rustic woven fence. One woman is seated upright, with her hair neatly styled and possibly covered with a headscarf. The second woman, on her side, has her hair similarly styled under a cloth, leaning towards the first woman. Each woman is holding a child who appear to be toddlers with wavy hair. The women are dressed in Renaissance-style clothing with long, flowing garments featuring layers and detailed patterns. One child sits on a lap, and the other is held next to the second woman. To the left, an older bearded man is shown in profile, partially obscured by the tree structure. He is dressed in a cloak, standing or kneeling slightly away from the group. The background consists of an intricate forest scene with a mix of thick tree trunks and open skies, providing a pastoral setting.
