The image depicts a man seated reading an open book. He has a large forehead, thinning hair on top, fuller, curly hair on the sides and back, a full beard, and a focused expression. He wears a loose robe and a sword at his side. His hands are engaged with the book, one resting on the page and the other supporting it. The background is a simple design with linear shading, resembling a wall or tapestry in a dimly lit setting. The bottom of the image contains text labeling the subject as "S. PAVLVS."
