This is a drawing of a crowned figure sitting on a low stool or chair, facing the left. The figure wears a cape that hangs down their back, and appears to hold a fish close to their chest. The figure's face is shaded, and besides the profile of their nose, few features are visible. The drawing features simple, clean lines against a plain background, and only occupies a small area on the total space of the page. The upper left of the paper contains the text "M. Beckmann" and "AMSTERDAM-C, ROKIN 85." A handwritten note appears beneath the figure.
