The image shows an upper body portrait of a seated man. The man is positioned facing slightly to the right with his head turned towards the viewer. He has curly hair that reaches his collar, a full beard and mustache, deeply set eyes, and a slightly downturned mouth. The man is dressed in a dark robe with a row of buttons running down the center and a white collar. He is wearing a cap on his head. His right hand rests on a large hat on his knee. Behind him, there is an elaborately crafted chair back with a lion's head carving, and in the background, there is a partially visible column.
