Elephantiasis

Unknown 19th Century

Associated Names
The image shows a person standing upright, facing slightly to the side to reveal their right profile. They have short dark hair under a wide-brimmed hat and Asian facial features. The monochrome photo is damaged, making details hard to discern. The person wears minimal clothing, possibly shorts or a loincloth, with their legs covered, possibly with fabric or bandaging. The background is textured with a blue overlay, typical of an aged print. Handwritten notes mention the location as Yokohama, Japan, and reference anthropological context and "elephantiasis."
