The image portrays a pastoral scene with a broad view of the landscape. The horizon is at the upper third of the image, with distant mountains against a softly stroked sky. The brushstrokes are detailed, showing trees and natural surroundings. The color palette consists of sepia tones. In the foreground, a man and his dog stand by a stream with cattle and a sheep. In the background, figures tend to a herd of sheep, and trees create depth.
