Ana Mendieta

Artist, American, born Cuba, 1948 - 1985

A person almost entirely covered with white feathers sits on a dark brown floor against a white wall in this vertical color photograph. The feathers leave the eyes, fingers, bare feet, and genitals visible. Woman sits with hands on knees, which are spread wide. She is lit from the left and casts a dark shadow on the wall to our right. The photograph is slightly out of focus.
