Associated Names
Francesco Allegrini

Artist, Italian, c. 1615/1620 - after 1679

The image shows a pastoral scene with a small human figure standing among trees. The horizon is not clearly defined, blending the treetops with the sky. The brushstrokes depict the foliage with swirls and dabs. The color palette consists of sepia tones. Trees curve gracefully with detailed trunks and branches. Some trees closer to us have gnarled roots and textured bark. Trees in the distance are less detailed, creating depth in the landscape.
