The image depicts a scene of a stormy ocean at night. The view is of choppy waves meeting a dark sky with ships visible in the distance. One ship is closer to the viewer, with its sails and masts silhouetted against the sky. Heavy clouds with a dim moon shining through them add to the atmosphere. The color palette is mainly deep grays and blacks with silvery moonlight highlights.
