The image is seen from a slightly elevated angle. The horizon line is positioned near the middle of the image, with a biplane flying just above it. The horizon separates a textured sea from a sky filled with billowy, swirling clouds. Closest to us, there is a group of people standing on what seems to be a ship's deck, partially silhouetted against the lighter tones of the sea and sky. To the right, there is a wooden structure extending into the water with a less distinct object positioned on it. The entire scene is rendered in a monochromatic scheme with a sepia tone, conveying an impression of an aged photograph. The brushwork appears smooth and uniform, contributing to a soft, vintage atmosphere.
