This painting depicts an elegant blue dress with a long train. The image shows a full-length gown in shades of blue with cream or white lace trimmings on the cuffs, seams, and skirt. The dress features a high collar, ruffles, and a dramatic extended train. Another smaller representation of the dress is shown in the upper right corner. The style is reminiscent of Jean-Baptiste Debret.
