The image shows a woman and a man seated. The woman is facing slightly to the side, wearing a cap, short hair, a beaded necklace, and a patterned cloth with fur trim. The man has a bushy beard, receding hairline, wearing a long robe and holding a staff with two snakes, a caduceus. In the background are ornate walls and a column or furniture. The lines and etching technique give the composition a textured appearance.
