Artist, Italian, 1835 - 1901

The image shows a coastal scene with a pebbled beach on the right meeting a grassy hill. The horizon is above the midline, the sea meets the sky, and there is a lighthouse in the distance on a land outcrop. An old boat rests on the beach near where the pebbles meet the sand. The sky has textured clouds indicating an overcast day. The image uses a monochromatic palette of gray, black, and white. The technique seems to use fine strokes, possibly etching, giving the scene detailed precision and softness.
