[1] According to a note to the file from Corcoran curator Dorothy Phillips, 20 June 1967 (in NGA curatorial files), this bust is possibly the cast that Weir sent as a gift to John Singer Sargent in 1904; see Dorothy Weir Young, The Life and Letters of J. Alden Weir, New Haven, 1960: 206.
