[1] The painting was included in an 1893 exhibition at the American Art Galleries, managed by the American Art Association, where it was also for sale.
[2] The painting is stock number 9168 in the M. Knoedler & Co. Records, accession number 2012.M.54, Research Library, Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles: Painting Stockbook 5, 8800-12652, 1899 April-1911 December, page 23 of the stockbook. It appears from the stockbook that Knoedler might have been buying for Clark at the sale.
