This horizontal painting presents a rural landscape scene centered on a dirt path that leads through a quiet countryside. The various brush strokes used, from smooth to textured, of oil paints on top of wood grain, combine elements of realism and landscapes. Starting at the lower left and moving across to the right, a wide, pale dirt road curves gently into the distance. The ground is uneven, with patches of grass and pebbles. Near the center of the composition, a woman with light skin stands on the path, her body facing away from us and slightly to the right. She wears a long dress with dull earth tones of reds, browns, and greens, and has light-gray colored hair. Besides her right, she holds the hand of a small child with light skin, who is dressed in darker clothing. Together, they stand atop a natural dirt bridge, walking along the curved path. To their left and rising above them, tall, dense trees and green-brown foliage dominate the scene. The trees' leaves contain shades of green and golden yellows, catching the soft, diffused light. On the right, a darker cluster of trees partially obscures a simple structure with a slanted roof, set back from the road. In the foreground at the lower right, a shallow pool of water reflects the sky in pale blue and gray tones. The sky fills the upper half of the painting with layered clouds, allowing warm light to break through, with a sun on the horizon. The overall piece utilizes colors of soft greens, browns, and grays, creating a calm, slightly hazy atmosphere
