Artist, American, 1810 - 1856

The drawing shows a woman seated, leaning slightly forward, with her head gently tilted to the side and downwards. She has delicate facial features with a serene expression, closed or looking down eyes, and softly closed lips. Her hair is styled in an updo, and she wears a form-fitting, long-sleeved dress with visible detailing around the bust and sleeves. Her hands are clasped together in front of her on her lap, and the background is a plain, neutral-toned surface. The drawing is signed with the inscription "Florence 1858" in the lower left corner.
