Associated Names
Elihu Vedder

Artist, American, 1836 - 1923

The image shows jagged rocks protruding from a calm body of water. In the distance, there are sandy, rolling hills creating a horizon line near the top third of the image. The landscape is detailed with texture in the hills. The pencil strokes provide shading and lighting effects on the rocks and land. The color palette consists of earth tones with muted shades dominating, while hints of blue are visible in the sky and water.
