This is a detailed watercolor of a decorative cross mounted on a staff. The cross is a rich green color with a gold outline, mounted on a staff that is also decorated with green and gold elements. The staff's design elements include a carved segment with small, decorated swirls and a series of gold bands. Part of the staff appears to be broken, and the painting positions the broken segments together with only a small gap between their jagged edges. The cross is centrally positioned against a background of plain paper. The signature "Wm. HOFFMAN" is present near the bottom right.
