screen printed on mat in black ink, top center above photograph: FOR THE HAIR; bottom center of mat below photograph: Every moon has a meaning for the hair; / If you want your hair to grow fast, cut it on the rising moon. / If you want to have beautiful hair, cut it on the new moon. / If you wish for full, strong hair, then cut it on the full moon. / Never cut your hair on the moon’s wane. / For curly hair take a small fern and boil it in water. / When the water has cooled, wash your hair wit hit many times. / For an afro cut simply clip a lock of your hair and place it on the Saint John’s stick.
