Probably purchased at auction in New York in the late 1930s by Louis E. Shecter [1901-1992], Baltimore;[1] gift 1966 to the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington; acquired 2015 by the National Gallery of Art.
[1] Per notes of 11 April 2007 conversation with Alan Shecter, the donor's son, in NGA curatorial files.
