Artist, American, born 1937

The image depicts a natural landscape scene viewed from a position close to eye level. The point of view is slightly above the ground, looking towards a bank of vegetation. The sky is not visible as the foliage and trees fill the upper portion of the image. A large piece of rounded driftwood lies close to the viewer, among smaller branches and smooth stones, suggesting a beach or riverbank setting. The trees and shrubs in the distance are densely packed, with some lighter-toned leaves that contrast against the darker areas of the foliage. The color palette is limited to various shades of brown and gray in this black and white photograph. The texture of the driftwood and the beach materials are crisp and detailed.
