The image is divided into two sections. In the top half, the view is at water level, showing a wooden boat with people under two large sails. The horizon is faintly visible above the middle of the image. The sea is calm with slight ripples. The color scheme is black and white, giving a documentary-like feel. In the lower half, the camera is inside the boat, close to a man in the center wearing a white shirt and head covering, with outstretched arms. Other figures are behind him, and details of the boat's structure and sails are visible.
