The image shows a young child sitting on the lap of an adult. The child has a round face with prominent cheeks and wide eyes, and their hair is short, curly, and decorated with a large, white bow. The child is wearing a light-colored dress with long sleeves and white shoes. The adult is wearing a dark suit with a white shirt underneath. A piece of furniture with floral decorations is to the right of the image. The background is softly blurred. "VANDERZEE N.Y.C. 1923" is inscribed in the bottom left corner.
