This is a drawing of a historical battle scene. Numerous figures are engaged in combat on horseback in a dynamic landscape. The background consists of wavy lines suggesting distant landscapes or more troops. A large tree extends from the left foreground with flowing branches that create a natural frame on one side of the drawing. The monochrome brownish tones and expressive line work convey motion and emotion.
