Artist, French, 1741 - 1814

This drawing shows a woman in an elaborate gown and pink shoes. Her feet are on the ground, one in front of the other, and she appears to be curtsying or bending down slightly, with her body facing us and her head turned to the right. She has pale skin, large eyes, a slightly upturned nose, and a small mouth. Her light hair is styled high in an ornate fashion with curls, and adorned with a large, decorative hairpiece of pink and white feathers or lace. She is wearing a voluminous pink dress with a very low neckline covered in lace and a pink bow at the center. The enormous pink and white skirts puff out around her, and ruffs of white lace cascade out of her pink sleeves. Some shading indicates where the wall meets the floor behind her, but most of the background is reddish-tan paper.
