The image shows five individuals in a lavishly decorated interior. On the right, a woman is reclined against a bed or chaise, wearing an elegant gown, and holding a dog on her lap. Another man is seated on the floor to her left. Three other figures are clustered further left; a standing man with a tricorn hat, a woman with elaborate hair, and another woman. The figures wear 18th-century clothing. The room has wooden paneling, ornate ceiling molding, an oval portrait on the wall, and a draped curtain. The floor has an intricate pattern, and there is a side table in the room.
