The image depicts three individuals in a sketch form. The central figure is shown from approximately the waist up with their head slightly turned downward and hand poised near their chest. They have short, dark hair and wear a high-necked long-sleeve outfit with a loose scarf or shawl around their shoulders. To the right is a second figure shown from behind in a similar posture. They also have short, dark hair and wear a similar outfit. Below the central figure is a third individual, visible from the top of their head and shoulders as they face away from the viewer. The background is plain, with no distinct objects or scenery visible. The artwork is signed by Mary Cassatt in the lower right corner.
