Associated Names
Alphonse Legros

Artist, French, 1837 - 1911

The image shows a wooded area with tall, slender trees depicted in a sketch-like manner using fine, cross-hatched lines. The horizon is not prominently marked, as the trees extend into the distance, filling much of the frame. The lines are delicate and expressive, providing texture and capturing the details of the branches and foliage. The color palette is monochromatic, using shades of brown and sepia tones. The light behind the trees creates a diffused glow, brightening the middle section and adding contrast against the darker areas delineated by the cross-hatching.
