The image shows an etching of a waterway with a crowded urban shoreline. The horizon line is in the center, where buildings and masts intersect with the sky. In the foreground, there are small boats on the water, including a rowboat with figures. Further back, there is an expanse of water with more boats, including a sail catching the wind. The skyline is packed with industrial and residential buildings, chimneys, and a church tower. The artwork has fine, detailed brushstrokes and etching lines. The color palette is monochromatic with sepia tones. On the right, there are vague outlines of two figures.
