Scholarly Remarks and Key Set Data

Remarks

When Stieglitz gave some photographs to the Museum of Modern Art in 1943, Nancy Newhall noted that he remarked that the “decaying snowy window” was “a portrait of the Stieglitz family (and he says the disintegration of the family is due partly to there being such uncompromising individuals as Stieglitzes in it)” (Nancy Newhall, unpublished manuscript, 39, copy in NGA files).

For more information about the snowstorm pictured here, see Key Set number 863.
